Online 8th March
The Global Women Network for Nature, a thriving community of women professionals passionate about nature and environmental stewardship, aims to foster collaboration and empowerment for women in the environmental sector. The initiative’s website was also launched on the 8th March, coinciding with International Women’s Day.
Antonella Vassallo, Managing Director, IOI Headquarters, was invited to deliver the keynote speech during this special webinar titled, Women for Nature: Cultivating Change, Sowing Sustainability. This initiative was launched by the TERRE Policy Centre, an environmental NGO based in Pune, India, dedicated to sustainable solutions. TERRE is an important partner of the IOI in India, and - along with IOI Alumnus Sunil Shastri - TERRE’s Director - Vinitaa Apte is responsible for the implementation of the IOI Ocean Academy courses delivered in Marathi and English Language for Indian audiences.
Referring to the inspirational example of IOI founder Elisabeth Mann Borgese, Ms Vassallo’s keynote address was a homage to the passion and talent and knowledge that all women worldwide bring when they actively engage in environmental conservation efforts and within their communities of interaction, professionally and personally, to bring positive change. The keynote was followed by a discussion where the audience shared their expertise and insights, greatly enriching the webinar.
