We need a healthy Ocean to survive. But our Ocean is in trouble, and so are we. Understanding the individual human and collective impact on the Ocean and its impact on our lives and livelihoods can encourage and empower people to act in a positive way to preserve our Ocean and use it more sustainably. Increased Ocean literacy lays the foundations for more informed decision-making at all levels. An online IOI Ocean Academy provides regionally and locally relevant Ocean knowledge so that interested persons can understand basic ocean processes, the interaction between Ocean, climate, human activities and livelihoods; now and in a changing future. The IOI Academy Courses are:
• 20-hour modules delivered online
• Free-of-charge for participants
• Overseen by the IOI and implemented by local experts
• In local languages
• Ocean knowledge that is locally relevant
Sign up to an IOI Ocean Academy today, and be empowered with the knowledge to become more active in favour of Ocean protection and sustainable use.
