Eligibility of the Applicants

The programme welcomes participation from individuals interested in learning about the Ocean, including members of Women's Groups and Community Organisations, Indigenous Communities, Beach Management Units (BMU) leaders and representatives, Youth representatives, Government Officials, Extension Workers, Academia and Research Institutions, Environmental NGOs, Civil Society Organisations, Educators, and Trainers. Participants selected for the course are expected to fully commit to attending and actively participate throughout the entire duration of the course. Additionally, access to a computer, laptop, or phone with internet connectivity is required to complete all course activities effectively. 

Participants will be awarded a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the course.

Mpango huu unakaribisha ushiriki kutoka kwa watu binafsi wanaopenda kujifunza kuhusu bahari, wakiwemo wanachama wa Vikundi vya Wanawake na Mashirika ya Kijamii, Jumuiya za Wenyeji, Viongozi na wawakilishi wa Vitengo vya Usimamizi wa Ufuo (BMU), wawakilishi wa Vijana, Maafisa wa Serikali, Wafanyakazi wa Ugani, Taaluma na Taasisi za Utafiti, Mazingira. NGOs, Mashirika ya Kiraia, Waelimishaji, na Wakufunzi. Washiriki wanatarajiwa kujitolea kikamilifu kuhudhuria na kushiriki kikamilifu katika muda wote wa kozi. This course focuses on the impact of climate change on Kenya’s marine biodiversity. Its core objective is to provide participants with a clear understanding of how climate change affects marine ecosystems and the importance of effective responses. Throughout the course, participants will engage in thematic sessions that address key challenges and explore strategies for managing and protecting marine biodiversity. Topics include the basics of climate change and its drivers, impacts on marine species and habitats, disruptions to marine food webs, and the socio-economic effects. The course also covers relevant policies and governance frameworks. By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and tools needed to contribute to the conservation and sustainable management of Kenya’s marine resources in the face of climate change.

Kozi hii inajikita katika athari za mabadiliko ya tabianchi kwa bioanuwai ya baharini ya Kenya. Lengo kuu ni kutoa washiriki uelewa wa wazi kuhusu jinsi mabadiliko ya tabianchi yanavyoathiri mifumo ya ikolojia ya baharini na umuhimu wa majibu bora. Katika kozi hii, washiriki watajishughulisha na vipindi vya mada vinavyoangazia changamoto kuu na kuchunguza mikakati ya kusimamia na kulinda bioanuwai ya baharini. Mada zitajumuisha misingi ya mabadiliko ya tabianchi na vichocheo vyake, athari kwa spishi za baharini na maeneo ya makazi, usumbufu katika mitandao ya chakula ya baharini, na athari za kijamii na kiuchumi. Kozi pia itashughulikia sera na mifumo ya utawala inayohusiana. Mwishoni mwa kozi, washiriki watakuwa na maarifa na zana zinazohitajika kuchangia katika uhifadhi na usimamizi endelevu wa rasilimali za baharini za Kenya mbele ya changamoto za mabadiliko ya tabianchi.
