IOI CANADA: The Elisabeth Mann Borgese Ocean Lecture was held at Dalhousie’s Law School. This public event focused on “The Blue Revolution: Challenges and Opportunities”

IOI COSTA RICA: Director, Prof. Alejandro Guttierez giving a speech at the Costa Rica National Congress 'Liberators' room on behalf of the UNA Vice Dean of Research

IOI CYPRUS FP: Prof. Nicholas Kathijotes, Director of the IOI Cyprus Focal Point was invited to give a plenary presentation titled 'A Blue Economy Approach Towards Clean and Sustainable Seas' at the EEEP 2019 in Burgas, Bulgaria

IOI EGYPT: A seminar was organised titled 'Women and Sea: success stories from Egypt' at the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF)

IOI IR IRAN: In cooperation with INIOAS five events were organised in celebration of WOD. Special ceremonies were held at the INIOAS HQ in Tehran and at the four INIOAS research stations

IOI MALAYSIA FP: A number of festivities and a range of activities were organised in celebration of WOD and included a beach clean-up and environment-friendly coastal-marine recreation

IOI MALTA: Director Alan Deidun, H.E. the President of Malta and a representative from the Malta Tourism Authority and local environmental NGOs at the Malta National Aquarium

IOI NIGERIA: Addressing kids in the community on the need to properly dispose of plastics due to plastic pollution and the effects of life underwater

IOI THAILAND & IOI SINGAPORE FP: During the opening ceremony of the organised biking campaign, Dr. Cherdsak Virapat (fmr. Executive Director of IOI) read out a short message from Awni Behnam (Hon. President of IOI)

IOI invited to the 110th Anniversary of Shanghai Maritime University

(Shanghai, 20th October 2019)

Antonella Vassallo (Managing Director, IOI) represented the IOI at the 110th anniversary of the Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), and was invited to speak at the University’s Presidents’ Forum. This participation reaffirmed the fruitful and longstanding collaboration between the IOI and the Shanghai Maritime University, with numerous SMU students having in the past enrolled in the MA in Ocean Governance postgraduate degree offered by the IOI and the University of Malta.

On Monday 2nd December, the annual IOI Special Seminar was held at Europe House, Valletta, with the support and collaboration of the European Commission Representation in Malta. The seminar was held within the IOI’s 15th Training Programme on Regional Ocean Governance for the Mediterranean, Black, Baltic and Caspian Seas.
